Courses List

Skill Improver Course

This can be a one or two day course, or more - it's completely up to you and how much you want to do. For people who can’t give this amount of time in one go, we can spread the course over time using ‘bite-sized’ two-hour lessons. You may feel now after riding a while, you are not quite totally happy in your confidence with your machine, or you can’t get the hang of doing corners.......maybe it’s dual-carriageways and motorway work that worry you? How about efficient and well planned and executed overtakes? Filtering skills,  and town work in general? Come on this course with us and our expert instructors will work with you and encourage you, improving the skills you want to improve. Book up, you'll have a great day or two riding and learning at the same time!

Back To Motorcycling

Modern motorcycling has moved on from even just a few short years ago and the machines have changed immeasurably. If it’s a while since you have been on a motorcycle and you are now coming back to bikes it can be a daunting experience. Our instructors will show and remind and refresh your memories, brushing the dust off your skills and improving them, helping to get you going again properly and safely. The whole 2 days is planned for you; all you have to do is book your place on the course and enjoy your training - you will get a lot out of the course! This course is generally two days to give students time to settle in to riding again, especially with breaks from riding bikes for more than 4 years.   If you’ve been off the bike for less time  a 1 day course may suffice, but we are flexible with training time.

Advanced Course

This is the full blown advanced riding techniques course for those who are very keen to really upgrade their riding to a very high standard, then subject themselves to a rigorous and thorough road ride test with an advanced examiner. At the end of the advanced rider’s course of 3, 4 and 5 or more days training, you’ll be extremely well prepared to take one of the National Advanced Riding Tests: I.A.M. or RoSPA or D.I.A. With a RoSPA Test the successful rider receives a written report of his /her performance defining the ride and will be awarded a graded pass; Bronze, Silver or Gold, the highest award. Even if you don’t want to take the test, you can also take this training simply for the purpose of gaining those same very high skills.

RoSPA National Diploma Preparation

If you are preparing yourself for the ultimate professional advanced instructor’s qualification, the RoARDAR RoSPA B-Tec National Diploma in Advanced Motorcycle Riding Instruction, you can get great preparation, practice, and instructor road scenario training with us here at Perfect Control.

DSA’s Enhanced Rider Scheme

This is the Government’s Driving Standards Agency ‘safe rider initiative’ and skills improvement training for motorcyclists and for insurance discounts. This is designed for any rider from the new full licence rider to the full licence holder with years of experience, to improve riding skills, road safety awareness, confidence and enjoyment.   This is done by a formal ERS assessment ride with a written report at the ride’s end, to see the skill areas that the rider needs to improve on. The rider may find they qualify for the DSA’s ERS Certificate of Competency, because their riding has been assessed as being of a high standard. If it isn’t, the rider will be recommended further training to improve to achieve the certificate.

Each candidate arriving for training with Perfect Control should have a roadworthy motorcycle and their insurance documents, M.O.T. certificate if applicable, current road tax and appropriate protective motorcycle clothing and safety helmet and current full motorcycle licence. To book your training use the contact us page.

Personal Health Check Ride

Over a 2-hour ride, we’ll assess your riding to see exactly where it’s degraded and whether you’ve formed bad riding practices and habits.  We can determine your riding standard from this structured ride, and after the ride you’ll receive a detailed verbal de-brief from your instructor with recommendations for training to bring the weak areas back up to scratch. The assessment ride is a great tool for deciding where any skills training should start, and giving us and you an idea how long your course would be for one of the advanced tests.
